The zebrafish core facility at IIMCB provides a variety of specialized equipment, services, and laboratory space for internal zebrafish researchers:
- State of the art fully automated aquatic systems with a capacity of 1,200 tanks, including a quarantine room
- Complete workstations for zebrafish embryo’s micromanipulation enable injecting genetic material and creating new transgenic or knock-out lines.
- Needle puller, tips beveler, and microforge for the precise preparation of injection microcapillaries.
- Fluorescent stereomicroscope that enables to observe and image of embryos/larvae in bright field, dark-field, or prepare fluorescent pictures.
- Light-sheet fluorescent microscopy that provides high resolution in vivo and real-time imaging of zebrafish.
- The behavioral testing room is equipped with a stand-alone aquatic rack for fish maintenance and automated ViewPoint systems for observing and tracking larval and adult zebrafish.
- Laboratory space equipped with necessary devices and incubators for zebrafish embryos
- Husbandry and breeding
- Cryopreservation service that includes sperm freezing and banking and in vitro fertilization to ensure the preservation of zebrafish genetic lines.
- Fin-clipping for the fish lines genotyping purpose.
- Importation/exportation of the lines upon request.
- Practical training of new users
- Aquatic system assistance 24/7
